Helen’s life fell apart when she got a FaceTime call from a stranger saying she was her fiancé’s fiancée. Helen and Lucy, who seemed mysterious, started to figure out what was going on and found a web of lies that would lead to a dramatic fight on Mark’s wedding day.
Helen drank her morning coffee while sitting at the kitchen table. She loved being married and having kids. She lived a simple, happy life with Mark, her husband, and their two kids, Emma and Jack. Cooking, cleaning, and making sure everyone was taken care of were regular things she did every day.
Helen was looking through her phone when a FaceTime call from a number she didn’t know came in. After some thought, she answered. The screen flickered, and a face I didn’t know showed up.
“Helle? Hey there! My name is Lucy. It’s great to meet you!” “Yes,” the woman said with a smile.
She felt her heart beat faster. “Hello there. “Do I know you?”
Lucy went on, “You must have heard a lot about me.” “But I decided to take the initiative and call you for such a moment!”
Helen’s worry turned into a cold fear. “What moment?”
Lucy laughed tensely. “Oh my God, I’m probably so scared!” My wedding to Mark!”
She could feel the room spin. “Getting married? What’s the deal? Lucy, you can stop now if this is Mark’s joke.
“Prank?” Of course not.” Lucy seemed to be confused.
Helen’s voice was shaking. “So you are fully aware that you’re calling Mark’s WIFE, right?”
The line snapped with stress.
“Wife?” Mark told you that you are, but…” Lucy’s speech stopped.
Heather and Mark had been married for 12 years. With their two kids, Emma, 10, and Jack, 7, they had made a warm and loving home. Mark loved being a husband and father, and he always helped with schoolwork and soccer games on the weekends. Their marriage looked great to everyone, even Helen.
Helen’s days began early. She took care of a part-time job, packed lunches, and dropped the kids off at school. She and Mark would talk about their day while Emma and Jack played in the evenings. Mark always seemed caring and interested.
Mark would give Helen a tight hug and say, “You’re the rock of this family.”
On the weekends, they often went to the park or the movies together. She was thankful that her husband was so loving and that her kids were happy. There were no indications that something was wrong.
Helen’s heart was beating fast during the FaceTime call.
She slowly told Lucy, “You need to tell me what Mark told you.”
Lucy had tears in her eyes. “He told me you were his sister.” The kids were his nephews. He didn’t want a big wedding because his parents were dead and his first marriage ended badly.
Helen’s shock turned to anger. “That’s all lies. Mark and I are still married. Together, we have two kids.
Lucy let out a gasp. “But… he told me he would.” He told me we would get married in secret because of his past.
Helen’s mind was busy. “Listen up, Lucy. Mark is up to two different identities. “You need to understand the truth.”
You could feel the strain between them. Lucy wiped her eyes. “This is unbelievable. “Why would he do this to us?”
Her voice was strong. “I’m not sure, but we need to figure this out.” “Together.”
Lucy gave a slow nod. “You’re right.” Something needs to be done. We can’t keep going like this.
Helen thought she was going to do something. “Let’s get together. We need to talk more and figure out what to do next.
Lucy agreed, even though her voice was shaking. “All right. When and where?”
The woman took a deep breath. “Tomorrow, at the Main Street café. Noon.”
“All right.” Lucy said, “I’ll be there,” and her voice was a mix of sadness and determination.
Helen hung up the phone and sat back, her mind full of feelings of betrayal and a fresh drive to find the truth.
The next day, Helen and Lucy met at the café. They both looked tired but determined. They got coffee and a place to talk that was quiet.
“Lucy, how did you meet Mark?” She asked with a steady voice that was touched with pain.
It was “online,” Lucy said. “He was so cute and nice.” He told me about his bad first marriage and how he had no family left. I felt so sorry for him.”
Helen clenched her hands together under the table. “He told you his parents were dead?”
Lucy agreed, but tears came to her eyes. “He told me it was just him and his sister. He even gave me pictures of himself from “a long time ago.” I see now that they were of you and your kids.
The woman took a deep breath. “A Facebook post told me.” He was tagged in a picture from a work event by a friend. I saw you two together in the background. He said it wasn’t important because you were a coworker when I asked him about it.
Lucy looked down, and her voice broke. “He told me you were his sister, that he was helping you out because you were a single mom.”
Helen became very angry. “It’s unbelievable that he lied to us both in this way.” He was with you all those nights he was “working late.”
Lucy wiped away her tears, and her face showed it. “He needs to pay. This is not okay for him to do.
She and Lucy talked about their lives and made a plan for hours at the café. They thought that the wedding Mark had planned with Lucy would be the best place to tell everyone about Mark.
Helen said, “We’ll both show up,” her eyes getting narrow. “He won’t be ready for it.” He’ll be too sure of himself and think he can handle everything.
Lucy said yes. “I’m going to be honest with my parents. They should know. They will be invited, and Mark’s true character will be shown to them.
Helen said yes. “I’ll bring some close friends with me.” Also, they need to know. We’ll let everyone know about his lies.
The women felt like they had a connection with each other because they had both been betrayed and had the same goal. It was their mission to take charge of the situation and make Mark deal with the results of his actions.
The wedding day came around. Mark stood at the altar and looked cocky and sure of himself. He looked around at the small group of people that was there: Lucy’s parents and a few close friends. He had no idea what was going to happen.
As the music began, everyone turned to look at the bride. Helen, not Lucy, walked down the aisle instead. She was perfectly dressed and held a flower. The guests let out gasps of surprise.
Mark’s eyes got really big in shock. He fell backwards and his face turned pale. “Helle? What do you have to do here?”
Helen kept her cool, and her voice was loud and clear. “Oh, Mark, I’m just telling you about this special moment.” Doesn’t that sound like a wedding?”
The guests talked quietly to each other, trying to figure out what was going on. Lucy came up behind them, upset tears in her eyes but with a determined look on her face.
She walked up to Helen and said, “You lied to both of us, Mark.” “This isn’t happening.”
Mark became scared and kept looking back and forth between Helen and Lucy. “I… I can explain!”
That was all Helen could do. “No, Mark, you can’t. Now that the truth is out, you’ve been living a lie.
Lucy looked at the people there. “Thank you all for coming, but today there isn’t a wedding.” Feel free to enjoy the reception while we’re not there.
Helen and Lucy then left together, leaving Mark standing at the altar, feeling ashamed and without cover. The guests were shocked into silence as they slowly realized how much Mark was lying.
When Helen and Lucy left the place, they felt like they had finished the event and were stronger. They were now in charge of the situation and made sure Mark could never trick or manipulate them again. It wasn’t the exact payback they were hoping for, but it was still perfect in its own way.
