There are far more people than we could ever fathom who struggle to make ends meet. Many people suffer with being able to support their families, particularly in these modern times when the world is experiencing a crisis due to inflation and a lack of electricity. The cost of necessities is rising, and the number of companies having to close is increasing. It’s harder to find a job now than it was. Many people find life difficult, particularly those who are unable to work for a variety of reasons.
It fell to an 82-year-old grandmother to look after her grandchildren. Unfortunately, there was little she could do to obtain food due to her advanced age. Her little resources proved insufficient, leading her to resort to a dishonorable act of food theft from a nearby store on Via Casilina in Ferentino, Frosinone, Italy.
She was confronted by an employee after they saw her stuffing canned goods into her bag. Grandma pleaded with them not to contact the police because she was afraid. She kept saying, “Please don’t call the cops; I don’t want my grandkids to know.”
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she continued to describe how difficult it was for her to feed her grandchildren.
Her story moved the store manager to tears. In addition to not calling the police, he also let her to take anything she required. He even invited her to see him anytime she was in need of food.
“I don’t care about a few euros; come get what you need whenever you want,” he remarked.
We are happy that there are still people in the area who are as thoughtful and compassionate as the market owner.
