Being a parent is hard work. It’s incredibly, really hard. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either nostalgically romanticizing the past or doesn’t have children.
There’s no instruction manual on how to raise a child who is misbehaving or going beyond what’s acceptable, or on how to act appropriately in certain situations.
Maybe this ambiguity is more of a source of conflict than the right parenting style. It seems increasingly typical to come across online forums where people argue vehemently over how to raise their kids.
Whatever the case, a mother who was caught pulling her infant kid through an airport by a leash around his chest became embroiled in a furor of scandal. The 2019 incident was captured on camera and uploaded to TikTok, sparking an intense debate among online users.
If you’re a parent, you’ve probably had to deal with situations where your child has tried to test your tolerance.
Although everyone of us handles these situations differently, I don’t think any of us can genuinely claim to have always handled it flawlessly. Most of the time, we behave in a way that we think is best for ourselves and nobody else.
However, others felt that a particular mother went too far when she was seen on tape pulling her kid through an airport while wearing a leash.
When TikToker @cacadoodledoo83 (Erica Shupe Hall) posted the video of herself leaving Cancun, Mexico’s airport with the caption “Leaving Cancun is tough…,” it ignited a heated discussion.I understand, my friend.
The video received a great deal of attention right once, receiving millions of views and a plethora of divergent comments.
It looked like the mother in the video was trying to get her child to follow her. When the child flattened on the ground and refused to move, she began to pull him across the carpet with a leash fastened to a harness around his body.
Needless to say, the comments area became a veritable fireball of opinions.
I couldn’t bring my kid onto that unclean floor because of my OCD. I suppose I’m weird, but I’d rather pick him up,” Delicia, one commenter, commented.
“A terrible father. Another person said, “That is child abuse,” JennyLisg.
“I just carry mine at that point,” a third person wrote. I refuse to lug them across that unclean floor.
“I think there’s a difference between using a harness for your child’s safety and dragging them on the ground,” remarked a fourth. I would never harm my dog in the same way that I would never harm my child.
While many people objected to the mother’s strategies, others jumped to her support.
Sophia, one viewer, commented, “Lmao! Mama, do what you have to do.
One more person stated: “I’m not saying it’s right. I’m expressing that I get it! Show me a flawless parent who has never erred in judgment or who hasn’t taken all necessary precautions to get by each day.
Shimona Jade Kennett continued, saying, “I don’t see any problems with that. She could have carried him, too, but he appears content to be tugged along. The child would have been creating a scene if he had been [distressed].
“I had a harness and leash for my five kids,” a fourth commenter said. They never left me. They were never harmed. They enjoyed their liberty and feeling protected without needing to grasp my hand. Although I don’t remember ever needing to drag them in this manner, I can see how it would occur.

While most people can agree that using a leash and harness to keep your child safe and reduce the likelihood that they will go lost tends to be a contentious topic among parents when it comes to using them first.
How do you feel about using a harness? Do you think this mother behaved improperly? Please feel free to voice your thoughts in the comment area.
