Dolly Parton is steadfast in her style. The two celebrities discussed the considerable time and effort that go into keeping their meticulously designed looks in a recent interview with RuPaul. She constantly dresses up for Parton, donning glitzy clothing, high heels, and a wig. It’s the same with RuPaul when he’s in drag, but he also has stylish non-drag attire.

Both celebrities have meticulously designed, fashionable, and distinctive personalities, but RuPaul reminded the “Jolene” singer that at the end of the day, he leaves drag behind. Parton, on the other hand, gave an explanation of why she wears her lavish clothes all the time.
Dolly Parton explains why she’s always dolled up
Parton was questioned by the RuPaul’s Drag Race host for a Marie Claire article. They discussed a variety of topics, including Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton’s goddaughter, and the singer’s personal life. But, one segment of the interview had the internet in fits of laughter due to the jabs Parton made at RuPaul.
The Emmy-winning presenter mocked the country singer by asking if she wears high heels when preparing breakfast for herself and her husband, Carl Dean, after the country star described her daily routine (for which she wakes up at 3 a.m. to begin!).
“I wear my high heels all the time. Do you not? Parton questioned the drag artist.
“No. The truth is that while there are parallels between what we do, I strip everything away,” said RuPaul. And now Parton explained why she always dresses up.
I don’t, I guess. I have to always be prepared—I always say to be street ready,” she stated. “I must continue to wear cosmetics and maintain my hairstyle. For example, if there is an earthquake in Los Angeles—I’ve told you about it—I won’t go out into the street looking like you are right now.
Dolly Parton is ‘comfortable’ with her highly glamorous image
Dolly! The gloom! Of course, she probably didn’t mean any offense at all. Too kind and loving is the Grammy winner for that. She did, however, go on to elaborate as to why she always dresses to the nines.
If I become sick or something, “I have to be ambulance ready at all times,” she remarked.
The 74-year-old hasn’t said she’s ill or that she anticipates calling for an ambulance any time soon. She seemed to be saying that she didn’t want her supporters to see her outside of her carefully cultivated image should an emergency ever arise. The actress added that it’s not about being self-conscious of her appearance. She simply enjoys looking nice.
Although I do wear high heels the majority of the time, Parton said. The ones I wear for exhibition are higher sometimes, but not always. But I’m not big. I’m small. And to go to my cabinets, I had to wear heels. But, I always feel more like myself when I’m wearing the shoes. I can, however, descend. I feel good about how I look and how I feel about my body. I dress more for myself than for other people.
You have to admire Parton’s resolve to present herself well if she is going to be noticed.
Finally, though, we have the photograph of Dolly that was made public.
