Jennifer Aniston, who is best known for her outstanding performance in Friends, has also starred in numerous other well-known films, including We’re the Millers and Horrible Bosses.
Yet Jennifer Aniston had a challenging upbringing with her mother. She was correcting her constantly and causing pain to her that manifested itself later in life. Nancy Dow, an actress, struggled to raise her daughter Jennifer. She heard her mother say, “You’re ugly and you have a large nose,” every day.
Jennifer was aware of the troubled marriage that led to her parent’s divorce. She remained with her mother after they split up, who constantly berated her for physical “defects” like her big nose, her wide-set eyes, and the few pounds she gained during puberty.
As a child, Jennifer’s mother would frequently remind her that she was “ugly,” which destroyed her self-confidence and self-esteem. Despite living in the same house as her mother, she could not be intellectually or physically similar to her.
Jennifer was dependent on her mother’s unpredictable behavior and didn’t get along well with her father. When Jen disobeyed her mother’s correction once, the latter laughed in her face, effectively “teaching” Jen to take criticism in silence.
She additionally experienced difficulties due to dyslexia, a learning disorder that is mostly to blame for difficulties with reading, writing, and spelling. As a result, she struggled greatly in her academics.
But in the midst of it all, Jennifer realized that she wasn’t as horrible as she had been made up to be, and she questioned whether her mother had been wrong about her.
After receiving her first job in Hollywood, Jen felt more confident, especially after getting a nose job. Yet her mother wasn’t satisfied with her achievement. Jennifer Aniston’s excitement over the wildly successful American television comedy “Friends” was dampened by interviews with her mother, who insisted on denigrating her in front of the world.
After that, Jennifer promised herself she would never speak to her mother again and skipped the wedding of her and Brad Pitt. She didn’t talk to her mother for 15 years.
Jen had a great realization following years of treatment for all those rough formative years. She feels that she has become more resilient as a result of all of her mother’s chastisements and harsh comments.
Because she cared about me and wanted the best for me, my mother spoke to me in this manner. She wasn’t intentionally cruel; she just didn’t realize the pain she was inflicting on me would end after years of therapy. According to Jennifer Aniston, she is the way she is because of her upbringing.
