And you’ll also know that you’ve saved him and provided him with the happy home he always deserved. Numerous studies claim that abandoned dogs develop a faster relationship with their owners, and some of them say even stronger ones.
But the owners of adopted dogs also say that their mutual connection is really special. They describe it as incredible gratitude and believe the adopted dogs know what you have done for them, and they know how to appreciate that.
So when a Reddit user adopted a rescued dog with her boyfriend, she was very happy for their new member of the family. They bonded with the dog together, she was very friendly to both of them, and everything was just perfect.
Then her boyfriend’s grandmother had eye surgery, and he decided to visit her but with their dog. Redditor didn’t like that idea since it would be a three-day trip, and the dog had just recently come to their home.
But her boyfriend assured her that it would be all right, the dog would be fine, and there was nothing to worry about, so she finally agreed. However, after returning home with their dog, nothing was the same, the changes in the dog’s behavior were obvious.
Take a look at the whole story below, and judge for yourself who is right here and what exactly happened.
Here’s the original story:
They adopted a dog, and even though her bf is an animal person, the dog started to bond with both of them equally.
But then, her boyfriend decided to take a dog on a trip with him.
She approved even though she had serious doubts about whether the dog should be taken on a trip so soon.
And here is her main problem:
“After all he’s the animal guy the dog has to like him best.”
The OP is so worried:
“Any one with any semblance of animal knowledge and care knows you don’t take a new rescue on a road trip.”
She should consider her future with him as well…
It’s still possible, but it will take some extra effort.
The OP responded:
“Consider taking her to a trainer.”
This could work also:
“Sometimes dogs just pick a person.”
The OP is clearly hurt that their dog neglects her, and she’s obviously mad at her boyfriend for his input into it. But who wouldn’t be hurt in a situation like this?
Anyway, the best she can do is take her dog to a trainer. That can be helpful.
She can still bond with their four-legged friend, and she shouldn’t give up on that. It may take her a while to achieve this, but she will eventually.
