It’s a gift and a fresh hope for a female elephant who is suffering in Thailand. Elephants are large and heavy and could be dangerous when in a state of hunger or become aggressive. However some of these animal’s fan-ears are kind and helpful. In several Asian countries elephants have been known to accompany those who have to do heavy chores. It’s great to establish authentic relationships with wild animals. Occasionally there are times when bad situations happen.
Source Elephant Nature Park (Mae Do) is a female elephant was enlisted to work at the age of 8. She hauled logs up the mountains of the border for four years before she was injured when a large log fell onto her. That caused her to break her left ankle. Her contract with the company that hauled logs was cancelled. The bone was not properly set because her injuries weren’t treated.

It made it worse as Medo had to breed using a large and fierce tusker. Instead of just creating a breeding partnership with the animal, it brutally assaulted her, and pinned her down using his tusk. She cried in pain. Nobody would ever risk getting close to the musth bull in order to aid her. Medo was left on the ground with her suffering and crying out in pain, alone.
The injuries were life-threatening and Medo was fighting to live for the next three years. Over the next 15 years Medo was in a solitary and painful labor. The owners wished to hide her in the shame of their actions up to the point that Elephant Nature Park rescued the poor creature in June 2006.

At the care of the foster, a vet discovered that Medo’s backbone had dislocated. That untreated injuries on her leg were causing the back discomfort. Even though Medo struggled to walk as well as moving around, she quickly became the perfect companion for Mae Lanna, a blinded elephant that was saved. Medo has received excellent treatment ever since.

July 2022, due to the advancement of physical and medical therapies the association as well as Bionic Gentle Giants gave Medo an artificial leg to aid her balance when being standing and walking. The adorable reaction of Medo on the leg prosthetic was widely shared on social media and garnered lots of interest and wishes.
Elephant Nature Park appeared a bit uncertain initially however, she was walking flawlessly. The caretaker wanted it to be a natural part of her and then, in a short time all her pains will disappear forever. The latest video of Medo confirms how her condition has improved quite a great deal, and she is enjoying time with her bestie.
