We don’t often think about how hard it must be for the angels who save abused animals and get them the help they need when they see them for the first time. Some animals are abused so much that they need to look scary at first. Animals who have been abused are often very moody.
When an animal rescuer saw a stray dog with scars, she didn’t have time to think—she just knew she had to act quickly to save the dog’s life. The Redlands in Orlando, Florida, may be known as a place where unwanted animals are dumped. The Redlands have a daily rescue group called the Redland Rock Pit Abandoned Dog Project that needs food to feed strays.
Every day, Furever Bully, Love, and Rescue/Facebook/Animal Heroes feeds about 350 pounds of food to about 100 stray dogs in the area who are struggling to stay alive. Natalie Oliveri is the leader of a group in Orlando called Furever Bully Love Rescue. At one point, she was helping the group feed the animals when stray dog Harper came up to her. Harper was with a bunch of other dogs, but when she saw Natalie, she fell to the ground.
The experienced dog sitter could tell that Harper was traumatized, and when she saw all the scars on her body, she knew she couldn’t leave her there. Harper is clinging on for dear life in this picture. This picture shows a million different things. Harper was taken to the vet, where she was treated for worms, a tooth infection, and anemia. Natalie said that Harper didn’t move much for three days because staff gave her as much love and attention as she could handle.
Bully, Love, and Rescue Forever / Facebook Cheryl Kessler took care of Harper as a puppy, and she said that Harper might be a happier dog now.
Thank you so much for saving this cute puppy. This dog should go to a good home with a loving family. God bless both of you.
