A stray dog with a serious injury did everything he could to stay alive on his own. He couldn’t walk straight because a cut on his neck hurt so much. He slithered down a busy street, hoping someone would find him before it was too late. No one cared to stop the cars, so they went by quickly. But finally, a woman on her way to work stopped.
Her heart hurt as she got out of her car. The dog was in so much pain that he thrashed around until he was completely worn out. Then he laid down and waited to die. She didn’t want to pick him up and make him hurt more, so she called a vet and asked for help. The vet told her to call a rescue group in her area.
The rescue group was glad to help the poor dog and told the woman they would get there as soon as they could. The woman did everything she could to keep people from hitting the dog until help came. When the people who were helping got there, they had a special gurney. They carefully put the dog on it and put it in their truck. They went straight to the animal hospital.
The dog’s wound caught the vet by surprise. He must have been in pain for a long time, since the tissue was full of maggots. The vet and his assistant did their best to clean out the wound and put on a special powder that would kill the maggots. Then they gave him fluids, painkillers, and antibiotics through an IV.
After the special powder did its job and the puppy had had some time to rest, it was time to work on his wound. The vet put the dog to sleep and then took out the dead maggots. Then, he took out more dead tissue and got rid of as much infection as he could. He took care of the dog’s wound and let it rest.
The puppy was still in pain when he woke up, but it was a lot better than before. He was upset and didn’t know what to do. He didn’t know what had happened to him, but he was glad he wasn’t alone anymore. He was glad to have his first meal with people who cared about him.
The brave dog is doing really well and will soon be going to his foster home. Once he has fully recovered, he will be ready to be adopted.
