A dog fighting ring used Bubby, a young Pit Bull, as a bait dog when he was just a puppy. When he was saved, he was hurt both physically and emotionally. He was terrified as his skinny body was punctured and infected all over. His wounds smelled really bad, and he was very closed off.
At the last minute, Bubby was saved from being put down, but his problems were far from over. He was locked in a garage for the next two months like he was trash. Finally, a woman heard about how bad things were for him and took him in right away. As Bubby sat in the car of his savior, he was sad and confused. He didn’t know that his life was about to change for good.
Bubby was moved when his new mom showed him love and care for the first time. She gave him enough space to get over his shyness and fears at his own pace. Over the course of a few months, he made an amazing physical and mental recovery that blew everyone away. He cared a lot about the woman who saved him, and this led to severe separation anxiety. It is quite understandable considering what he has been through. The dog’s owner decided to crate train Bubby so he would feel safe and stable when she wasn’t around. During this crate training, Bubby found that blankets gave him a new sense of comfort. Every morning, he would get out of his crate with his blanket, snort happily, and walk around the house wagging his tail.
Bubby’s blanket became a shield that made him feel safe and let him know that everything was okay. His past traumas and nightmares got less and less, but his sacred “blankie routine” stayed mostly the same. Over time, he felt the same way about his pillows, toys, and anything else that made him feel at home.
Bubby’s family gave him the best gift when they took in another rescued Pit Bull named Simon to play with him. They thought Bubby would stop being so obsessed with his blanket, but that never happened. Simon loved and looked up to Bubby a lot, so it was only a matter of time before he copied his brother’s carefree blanket love.
Aww! Pit Bulls are such sweet, cute dogs.
