,,Both my wife and I were wiping away tears from our eyes.”
When it comes to the ties of a mother’s love, sometimes a difference isn’t really a difference at all. This is especially true when it comes to the situation described above. Just ask Emmelina Austin and her brand new companion, a gorilla mother by the name of Kiki.
The other day, Austin and her family made the decision to take their infant baby, Canyon, to the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston. Canyon is exactly one month old. While there, the Austins made a detour at the cage for the gorillas, and while they were there, they saw Kiki playing with her own offspring, a young gorilla called Pablo who was just seven months old.
,,My wife mentioned that she felt like she could understand their bond and could see how much she cared for Pablo, since she is a mother now herself.” Canyona’s dad, Michael Austin, told The Dodo. Then Kiki grabbed Pablo and carried him over to us by putting him on her knee. ,,My wife was holding out our kid to see Kiki, who was on the opposite side of the cage. Emmelina and Kiki sat with their kids inches apart for the following few minutes, bonding as mothers despite the barrier that separated them.”
“Kiki was communicating to us with her hands.” Michael recounted. A language as old as time. ,,At one point, Pablo even brought his face up to the glass, and the two of them observed him with their noses touching while they did so. Both my wife and I were wiping away tears from our eyes.”
The young family won’t soon forget the special occasion they shared together.
Michael stated that: ,,It was one of the most incredible experiences I ever had. What a priceless experience that we will one day be able to pass on to our child!”
