If you watch the Discovery Channel, you are surely familiar with the intriguing series Air Jaws. It takes us into the world of the magnificent great white sharks. Air Jaws debuted in 2001–2002, but it wasn’t until 2010 when it made a dramatic comeback and started airing frequently.
The television show is essentially a heated arena where shark specialists battle it out to get the best shots of white pointers breaching into the air. ,,In its most recent season”, Air Jaws: Ultimate Breach Off, ,,three teams were lead by daring and knowledgeable professionals Chris Fallows, Alison Towner, and Dr. Enrico Gennar. But in the end, Chris Fallows took first place with his beautiful photograph of a great white shark breaching at Seal Rock in Mossel Bay, South Africa, nearly 15 feet above the ocean.”
,,The shark exploded from the sea. It appears to be trying to dismember its prey as it twists and turns in the air, according to Fallows. I don’t see how the other teams will ever be able to defeat it. I have no idea how I’ll ever defeat it.”
Fallows and his crew, along with other teams, had been floating in the sea in pursuit of such a moment for three months when the spectacular image appeared. They knew their efforts had paid off when this shark appeared. It was a young man, around 10 feet tall, who had a lot of energy and sprang like a true hunter.
,,It came out so high”, he said, ,,I can’t believe it. That picture is amazing. It’s the kind of picture you imagine. That image is equivalent to a thousand breaches, notwithstanding the proverb that ,,a picture is worth a thousand words.”
In addition to assisting Fallows in winning Air Jaws 2020, the horrific breach also set a series record.
The great white shark itself also went viral shortly after the show aired, and the shot was absolutely incredible. He has garnered the love of so many people all across the world.
