Phantom, a 6-month-old baby koala, stayed at his mother’s side as she had life-saving surgery at this same time.
Lizzy, the mother koala, was hit by a car in Australia. She has a collapsed lung and some facial injuries.
Fortunately, Phantom was uninjured, and staff decided it would be better to leave him with his mother because he was so young.
Phantom was giving his mother frequent hugs while perched on her neck, and it seemed that his affections were effective.
According to medical workers, Phantom is with Lizzy during her surgeries and check-ups to guarantee neither mom nor baby become anxious.
Phantom is also in a ,,pouch” when being weighed in order to make him feel safe and secure while being away from his mother.
