Officer Boone of Richmond Animal Control responded to a call about a abandoned dog tied to a pole. When the officer arrived on scene, he found a very old male schnauzer poodle, hungry and thirsty, chained to a pole on the corner of a hot street in Virginia.
On closer inspection, he realized that there was a note on a small piece of cardboard attached to the chain. The note read:
“My name is Oreo. I am over ten years old. I suffer from anxiety. My owner is dead. I’m very well.”
The old dog could hardly see or hear and was incredibly anxious and overwhelmed.
He was immediately admitted to the RACC after medical examination. It was clear that Oreo was very scared, but as soon as they took him in their arms, Oreo relaxed and felt even more comfortable. Luckily he was in good health, except for the fact that he had lost his sight and hearing. It was time to find a home for this old dog to live out his golden years. Fortunately, it didn’t take long!
A Fredericksburg woman thought Oreo had something unique and wanted to open her home to him. Oreo now has five acres of open space and a new sibling to play with. Their golden years will be the best ever!
