There are many pets in shelters waiting for someone to take them home. But sometimes it takes longer for some animals to be adopted than others.
And unfortunately many animals wait for years to find a new home, wondering if they will ever get out. But no matter how old the dog is or how long it’s been in the shelter, it deserves a chance to be happy.
Now an animal shelter is trying to find a new home for one of its oldest dogs. Thanks to a heartbreaking photo that tells his whole story.
Ginger is a Labrador-retriever mix who lives on the shores of Lake of the Ozarks in Osage Beach, Missouri. She is a brave dog who loves to play. But unfortunately, no one would give her a home. For nearly 8 years, she was waiting behind bars at the Dogwood shelter while other dogs were being adopted. But the shelter hopes that someone will take an interest in Ginger, seeing how long the poor girl has.
In a viral photo, Ginger sits sadly in her kennel while a sign outside tells her story: ,,Hello! I’m Ginger! I’ve been waiting here for 7 years, 9 months, 2 weeks and 2 days, I’m a good girl! I promise! I just need one more chance.”
The heartbreaking photo caught people’s attention. It was shared more than 14,000 times in one day. Ginger will be the only pet in the family, but otherwise she is just a good dog looking for a home. If you give her the second chance she’s been waiting for, she will love you forever. We hope Ginger finds a home soon!
