Mayhem was very pregnant when she first arrived at the Kentucky Humane Society. The staff knew that the best thing for her was to find a foster home. Dr. Emily Bewley ist the veterinarian of the shelter. In this case she immediately deployed. ,,I do a lot of animal fostering especially of pregnant cats and dogs so they can give birth in a home instead of a shelter.’’ – Dr. Bewley reported. Dr. Bewley tried to settle Mayhem in her home. She seemed to feel comfortless and unsatisfied. That made Dr. Bewley worries. She was aware that she needed to find Mayhem a new home where she feels comfortable.
,,I tried to spend extra time with her but she made it that she wasn’t happy. One night she escaped her locked kennel so I found her in my unfinished storage room. I tried to catch her but she was nervous and ran from me. I watched her run up the wall and even into the ceiling!’’ Said Dr. Bewley. Mayhem finally came from her hiding place. It didn’t took long for the family to hear tiny meows. They started to realize that Mayhem gave birth to her kittens in the ceiling.
Everyone immediately set about devising a plan to free the newborn kittens from the ceiling and reunite them safely with their restless mother. Dr. Bewley said: ,,I called my technician Rebecca and her husband Kurtis who is a construction foreman. Of course my husband was out of town. Rebecca and Kurtis game over and started drilling holes. We found three kittens immediately and reunited them with Mayhem. We thought all the kittens were found and safe. Just until we heard another meow in the wall!’’
