Sometimes social networks prove to be the solution to deadlocked situations for which there seems to be no way out. In an animal shelter in the state of Alabama (USA), the sweet dog Speck had been waiting for more than a year and a half for a compassionate person to take him home and give him the love he deserved. Every time someone came closer to his cage, he put his snout through the bars and raised his paw. Everyone stopped, stroked him and “shook his hand”.

Desiray Miracle-Wilder, director of the Bullock County Humane Society, says it was virtually impossible not to stop and say hello to the little dog with the sweet intent. One day, Desiray, full of energy, decided to film Speck’s cute habit with her cell phone. Speck stuck his snout through the bars and stretched out his paw to the manager of the shelter. The video reached thousands of users, including Speck’s future family.

The old scars on Speck’s snout bear witness to his difficult past. But this had no influence on Speck’s tame and gentle character. The dog trusts people and his only concern was to win them over.

The helpers at Allie’s Hope For Paws Dog Rescue also saw this nice video and put Speck’s shelter in contact with his future family. Now Speck can finally romp around with two other dogs on the farm of Mike and his family!
Finally he has the happy ending he had to wait so long for.
