Normally, the first thing you think about when talking about firefighters rescuing pets from a high roof you think about cats. But in reality the heroic firefighters also rescue dogs who get stuck in unideal situations – like this lovely pup from Wells, Maine, who got stuck on the roof of the house of his owner.

He unfortunately got out through a window that is upstairs and then he was spotted by a neighbor who was very concerned. But thankfully, the exemplary neighbor immediately called the fire department and waited next to the house until they arrived, to assure the stuck dog was safe. If this neighbor doesn’t give you hope that there are still good people in this world, nothing will.

The Wells Police Department wrote on Facebook: “Even big doggos need help to be saved sometimes”. “This lovely pup somehow managed to get out onto the roof of the house through the upstairs window. We received various calls, but one very concerned neighbor, Phil Burke, discovered him quickly and called us. Another great neighbor kept staying by with the dog until we arrived! Officer McDonald worked together with the Wells Fire Department and together they rescued him! Big thanks to everyone who called and helped to save him.”

When the firemen came to the scene, Captain Nawfel safely climbed to the roof where the dog was stuck for the rescue mission. And he got the best of all rewards – kisses of gratitude from his new fluffy friend.

“It’s pawsatively love! Could there be anything more beautiful than seeing how this lovely dog expressed his gratitude?! – We don’t think so.” Wells Police on Facebook. In our opinion they’re totally right – it was such a beautiful meaningful act.
