London/Great Britain: A little baby swan was trampled on the open street in London. And that only because a jogger did not want to walk two steps around it.
The young animal has now died as a result of its injuries. All over the UK, animal rights activists are speaking out in anger at this unnecessary killing of young swans. According to British media, a man was seen flattening a baby swan in central London. Allegedly, the jogger ran up to the swans and ran over them without even a hint of swerving.
As reported by the Animal Rescue, police were also reportedly notified of a second incident of the same jogger attempting to kick a second hatchling, which, however, was able to run out of the way quickly enough.
Condition was critical
The police also guard the swans in Royal Park and found the flattened baby swan on the ground. It was immediately placed in the care of the Swan Sanctuary animal welfare organization. The health condition of the young animal was critical from the beginning. While the animal protectors tried to bring it back to health, they published the progress of the little swan on Facebook.

“We’re doing everything we can, but it doesn’t look hopeful. Fortunately, there were several people who noticed him and alerted park managers immediately.”
Thousands of people have already shared their condolences in the comments on Facebook, expressing anger and horror at the act. “I hope the cute nose makes it and the jogger should trip and break his leg,” wrote one user.
Now the police had to announce on Twitter that the baby swan died from the injuries.
The authorities are now publicly looking for the responsible jogger.
This incident is yet another reminder that animal cruelty happens every day all over the world.
