Out in the South African heartland, A young Rhino has formed the most unlikely of friendships, and it made our hearts melt when we heard their story. The young Rhino, who lives in a sanctuary that offers protection from poachers had to be rescued when his mother was taken away from him by poachers. He has spent the last six months being nurtured and cared for by the amazing team at Care for wild Rhino Sanctuary, and now he’s found a new best friend.

They met when the Rhino was roaming around exploring his new habitat in the Care for Wild Rhino Sanctuary in South Africa. He saw the goat grazing in a field nearby and approached her to investigate. The sanctuary staff said they were worried at first, because they thought he might have attacked her, but they seemed to hit it off right away!

It started with a chance meeting, but now the pair cannot be separated and they do everything together. So much so, that the Goat has moved into the Rhino sanctuary so they can spend as much time together as they want. They graze together, walk together and some nights they even sleep together, wow!
Rhinos have become critically endangered over the past decade, as more and more are hunted by poachers for their horns. That’s why in South Africa there are hundreds of amazing people who have committed their lives to protecting them and created sanctuaries where they can roam free without the risk of being poached.

We want to thank Care for Wild Sanctuary in South Africa for their amazing work and we hope that the relationship continues to blossom as time goes on, we’re sure it will!
