It goes without saying that most of us would assume that our family dogs love us (they are mans best friend after all), and this is almost always true! But what if I told you there are ways that you can be absolutely certain, so you know whether your fur baby is truly happy? Keep reading to find out more
We have compiled 10 different signs to look out for (from our survey of veterinarians) that can confirm whether your dog truly does love you.

1. Your dog will bring you items that may be damaged/broken (including their toys).
Believe it or not, it doesn’t always mean that your dog wants to play, if they bring you a toy. If your dog were to bring you a toy or other item that may have been damaged, it also can be a sign of trust. Your dog may be bringing you the item because they trust that you can fix it, or keep it safe for them! Some dogs have even been known to bring injured animals to their owners, which can often be mistaken for them bringing you a treat (A common behaviour displayed by our other 4-legged fur babies). If this ever happens, remember that it could be a sign that your dog wants you to try and help the injured animal, because you are their most trusted pack member!
2. Your dog will get excited when they hear your name.
It goes without saying that this is a major sign that your dog truly does love you. If your dogs ears prick up, and their tails start wagging at the sound of your name it demonstrates that they are excited and you make them happy. This can also be a sign that they miss you or your family member, if they do this when you are out the house! Dogs have feelings too you know 🙂

3. Your dog sits in front of you while you eat.
This behaviour is often mistaken for ‘begging’ by some dog owners, however it is actually a sign that your dog is trying to protect you while you eat, which is a basic instinct that dogs have toward their pack leader. Behaviour studies show that dogs can display this behaviour even in their family homes, so it is important to teach your dog to not become to obsessive with this as it could become a problem in the future. Other than that though, you can eat peacefully knowing your furry friend has your back 🙂
4. Your dog rubs their face into yours
Think of this one like a cuddle from your fur baby, it demonstrates that they adore you and are trying to show you affection. How cute is a cuddle from your best friend though?

5. Your dog stares at you
Staring in dogs, is a sign that your dog is trying to bond with you. Veterinarians say that this could be a sign that they are longing for some affection from you. We all love a cuddle though, don’t we?
6. Your dog will stay near you if they feel you are upset or in pain.
It is said that dogs can read people’s energy, so its no surprise that your furry friend will often stay close to you if they feel you are in pain, or upset. Next time you’re feeling down and your fur baby is close to you, remember that this could be their way of saying ‘I’m here for you’.
7. Your dog licks you
Dogs are amazing animals and i feel its safe to say that all dog owners will be licked by their fur baby at some point. This can go further though than just a few kisses! Some dogs for example may lie and lick your feet, or legs. This is a sign that they are trying to show you that they love you and they see you as the leader of their pack. If your dog does this, its a common sign that they absolutely adore you!
Dogs are amazing animals, who truly do wear their hearts on their sleeves! The next time your dog shows any of these signs, don’t forget to pet them or give them a cuddle, maybe they are actively wanting you to?
