A group of surfers rushed to help a baby pilot whale, after realizing that the poor animal got stuck in the mouth of a river at the beach in Costra Rica.
One of the surfers, called Mauricio Camareno, narrated that they saw a black clump and heard noises of distress. When they tried to find out, where these cries come from they found the baby whale around 200 feet up the river and the poor thing was struggling with breathing.

Mauricio said that the whale was already very weak and couldn’t keep afloat by herself. So the brave surfers immediately jumped into the water and hold the baby whale up in order that she wouldn’t drown.

Despite the fact that they called the environmental ministry and the Coast Guard to report about the little whale, nobody showed up to the scene.
After six hours of holding the stranded whale up, the surfers realized that she had gained her strength back.

With the help of the high tide the group of surfers finally managed to bring her out to deeper waters again. After a few attempts, she finally swam away and we hope that she was reunited with her beloved pod again.

The brave surfers rescue mission has got them earn a lot of appreciation across social media. People thanked them for saving the little whale and called them “brilliant human beings”. We also think that these surfers deserve the best for what they did, they are really great human beings.
